This project is aimed at highly spirited young volunteers who have a bent of innovative and creative mind and love taking up challenges. All the activities are fun to be involved in that too amidst the charitable work aimed at bettering the lives of local people. Volunteers would help by taking part in the construction of school. You would love working at the project if you are the one who likes enjoying outdoors and beauty of the countryside. Other activities include activities involving construction of ecological school campus, doing carpentry projects, helping in making playground, renovating the rooms and doing small time maintenance works, making improvement in exciting infrastructure and doing day to day tasks etc,. Be at your energetic best while you add beauty to the lives of local poor people!
Typically you are expected to work for about 4 to 6 hours a day; however if you wish to put in more working hours in the interest of needy you are welcome. A typical working day begins after breakfast with break time for lunch and tea. It is highly recommended that you work with other project coordinators and volunteers closely to adjust better and maximize the impact.
Day 1: Arrival at Santa Elena de Uairen Airport, from where you will be transferred to your respective accommodation. You would be introduced with our staff members at the airport.
(Note: Volunteers will be informed about the meeting point prior to their arrival through an info sheet).
Day 2: You will be welcomed at our local partner’s office where you will be given a short introduction about history, region and information about local people. You will also be introduced about the local conditions, local language & culture, host family, safety & climate and socio – political issues.
Day 3: You will leave for the project site where you will get to meet with the local villagers and will be introduced to the project and the working environment.
Day 4 – 8: Work in Project (Refer Project Highlights for details)
Day 09: This is the time to relax and refresh by taking a tour to village site; interact with locales, staff and fellow volunteers. You will visit and explore various sightseeing spots and will get to have lots of fun. After dinner in the evening, you can have more fun when you join cultural program performed by local community people which is always a visual treat.
Day 10-12: Project work (Ecological Building) continues.
Day 13: Visit and explore the beautiful places of Venezuela along with the group of fellow participants who are almost of your own age. This will help develop a bonding with each other and share your new experience with each other.
Day 14: Completion of project, final experience synthesis and Farewell program will be conducted at the end. This is a wonderful platform to the participants to recall and share important experiences and lessons learnt. During this, a short program of certificate distribution will also take place. Once the program is over, the group of volunteers (youth participants) will leave for departure for their respective destinations.
GWS partner organizations at Venezuela will arrange and manage your accommodation, food and supervision while you work in at the project. You will stay either with a project hostel, in a dormitory or in a volunteer house and construction center/kind of dormitory. You will be served three meals per day .Volunteers are also allowed to cook food of their own. You are also welcome to get food from local restaurants or anywhere at your own expense. Even though everyday items are available in the host country at cheaper prices it is however requested to carry all the everyday items with you while travelling. Although a beautiful, warm and friendly place, you should not expect luxurious treatment or accommodations because we ideally want you to feel and experience the real local culture and lifestyle closely.
